Calvin and Hobbes

Did you know that the Critter and I are becoming very good friends?

She even lets me pet her fuzzy ears now!

Well, actually, she still runs away a lot,
but the way I'm starting to walk...
I'll catch up with her in no time at all!

Rise and Shine

Special Delivery

I really get into playing with all my toys.

Let's see...
I've seen Mom use this thing to call Dad before.
Let me give it a try...

Hello? Hello? Dad? Is that you?
It's me, Riley!
What's that you say?
You have a special delivery for me?

Dad told me that he got to ride on a UPS truck all day today.
I was very glad when he delivered himself home!

I'm So Excited and I Just Can't Hide It

I get so excited when Dad comes home from work!
I drop everything I'm doing and start clapping for him!

I Have a Grand Day

Today, Mom told me that she had a very busy day and that
I was going to hang out with Memaw and Grandad.
That was fine by me!

I love hanging out over here!!

A little later in the morning,
Grandad took me outside so we could take a look at my jetski.

Yep, next year I'll be going full throttle!

And here's the throttle right here!

Grandad said he had to clean my jetski up
and put it away for the winter,
so I went inside with Memaw to take a beverage break.

Did you know that sometimes pouring out the drink
is a lot more fun than actually drinking it?
But you have to do it when no one's looking.

Uh-oh! Busted!!
I'm sure Mom won't mind cleaning this up when she gets here....

Thanks for letting me play and play today!

It's a Jungle Out There

On Sunday, Mom and Dad bundled me up
to go see all the animals at the Zoo again before it gets too cold.
We were the first ones there!

We went to Gorilla Forrest at the Zoo
and would you believe this big gorilla came right up to me?
I think he wanted to say hello.

After I talked to that gorilla for a while,
we ran into this big giraffe!
He was a very hungry fellow, it turns out.

And guess what?
The zoo keeper was there and said Dad and I could feed this big giraffe!
I didn't know his head was bigger than my whole baby body!

After we left the Zoo,
we had a little shopping to do.
I liked surfing in the cart!
But please, kids, don't try this at home!
Make sure you have a grown up with you at all times!

Then I decided it was MY feeding time,
so we stopped by Memaw's and Grandad's for some lunch
and to play and play!

I Go to the Barber Shop

Today, Dad told me I was going to go to the barber shop
and get my hair cut by a trained professional!

Dad and I sat down on this chair and then the barber lady
wrapped this blanket thing around me.

So... Can I see your resume before we get started?
Where did you go to hair school?
How long have you been cutting baby hair?

Okay... Looks like we're going through with this after all...

Just a little off the sides please...

All done!
How do I look, Dad?

We got all done and Mom said I needed to have another bath
to get all the baby hair off my face and neck.

Lather, rinse, repeat!
(This is the rinse part.)

Okay, Mom, it's cold.
Hurry up with the blow dryer and get some clothes on me!

All clean, all dry and warm, and handsome as ever!

After my haircut and quick bath, it was snack time.

NUM!

TOUCHDOWN!
Puffs and football - it just doesn't get any better than this!

Time to play and play before bedtime.
What a handsome baby man I am with my new haircut.

The Aspiring Artiste

On Thursday, Mom told me we were going to do
some arts and crafts for Thanksgiving.
Okay, I'm ready.
Open this already, please!

I grabbed a crayon and got straight to work on a blank canvas.
Mom told me that there would be scissors and glue and other stuff
that she'd help me with to make our crafts,
but that I could color all I wanted to on all this paper!

So I drew and drew and colored and colored.

Look at all these crayons to choose from!
I went through a couple rough drafts,
but I finally got the hang of it.

Stay tuned to find out what my masterpiece is!
Mom said it's a surprise for Thanksgiving Day!

I Go on a Very Long Ride

On Thursday, Mom started packing lots of bags and
told me we were going on a long trip.
She had even packed my bath seat so I had
to take a bath in the sink before we loaded up in the car.

We drove and drove and before I knew it,
I was in a whole nother state!

And then even another one!!!

But we stopped to sleep in this state and
did you know they had a crib just for me?
It was my first time to sleep anywhere but my crib or at Memaw's house!
But the adventures were just beginning!

We Arrive At Our Destination

We made it!
And for Mom, it was really coming home since she was born in this state!

We finally arrived at our home away from home,
at least for the next couple of days!
I had to do some exploring and check out my new digs.

So I started my exploring and guess who I ran in to?
It was Cousin James!

And then Memaw came too!
We all sat on the porch swing for a while and
got caught up with each other...

I asked Cousin James if I could borrow my Aunt Katie
for a little while since I hadn't seen her in a long time.

I also met my new friend, David.
He owns the Dunn House Bed and Breakfast where we stayed.
He said that I could have anything for breakfast
that I wanted, but Mom said I had to stick to my applesauce and oatmeal.
Next year I'll get to have grits and sausage and toast with dewberry jam
and eggs and all the other yummy stuff he made for everyone else.

Here are Aunt Katie, James, David, Mom and I
on the front porch of the house we stayed at.

We all thought it was a very good place to stay
and thanks to David for all he did while we were there!
